The Philadelphia Eagles host the Minnesota Vikings at Lincoln Financial Field on Saturday afternoon to get ready for the regular season in just two weeks.
Given that it’s the final preseason game and neither team is expected to play many notable players our Eagles vs. Vikings predictions have still found an edge on the total.
Read on for my NFL picks for Saturday, August 24th.
Vikings vs Eagles prediction
My best betOver 33.5 (-105 at BetMGM)
My analysis
The Minnesota Vikings have had no trouble moving the ball and finding the end zone so far in the preseason. They’ve put up 24 and 27 points against the Raiders and Browns, and we have a total set just above that here in the preseason finale.
On the flip side, the Philadelphia Eagles haven’t had much success offensively with just 30 combined points through two games. However, the Birds still managed at least 14 points in each game which would be all it takes to get to an Over 33.5 in this one if the Vikings can keep up their pace.
While the starters won’t be seeing any action, and these games may seem meaningless to fans, veterans and rookies both know that this is a chance to fight for one of those final roster spots.
“Anyone who says the preseason games don’t mean anything hasn’t been in this position,” Eagles veteran wide receiver Parris Campbell said. “We’re fighting for our jobs out there, our professions. Everybody responds to that. Saturday is a great opportunity for everyone who steps on that field.”
Second-year quarterback Tanner McKee will likely see a lot of action on Saturday for the Birds and he’s seen some solid growth thus far.
“Any time you play, you’re going to be more comfortable and more prepared,” he said. “I’ve definitely made strides in recognizing things, reacting, and knowing where to go with the football. The more reps you get, the better you’re going to be.”
High-scoring preseason games seem to be the regular for Minnesota. There were at least 35 points in all three games last year and two of the three in 2022.
